Product Description
Common Faults of Excavator Fan Motors

The following symptoms indicate potential failure of the cooling (radiator) fan motor on CAT E336, E345, E340, E349, and E352GC excavators. Early diagnosis helps prevent secondary damage to the hydraulic system.

  1. Fan low speed / engine overheat: Internal wear and high internal leakage. Contaminated hydraulic oil scratches motor components, reducing efficiency.
  2. Fan no rotation: Seized bearings or damaged internal rotor.
  3. Abnormal whining or grinding noise: Worn bearings or unbalanced fan blades.
  4. Motor oil leakage: Shaft seal aging or housing seal damage.
  5. Fan always runs at full speed: Fan solenoid valve or control circuit fault.

Note: Confirm solenoid, wiring, and sensor status before replacing the motor. Dirty oil will damage a new fan motor quickly.
