Common Faults & Solutions
  • Spool & Valve Bore Wear: Symptoms: Weak boom lifting & bucket force; poor performance when hot; boom/bucket drift; high hydraulic oil temperature. Cause: Contaminated oil scratches spool and bore, enlarged clearance.
  • Stuck Spool: Symptoms: Stiff lever, delayed/unstable boom & bucket movement; no action if spool stuck at neutral. Cause: Dirt, deformed/broken return spring, oil sludge.
  • Main Relief Valve / Pressure Compensator Failure: Symptoms: Low loading pressure, relief whistling, pressure fluctuation; poor combined action. Cause: Worn relief spool, fatigued spring, clogged compensator orifice.
  • Damaged O-rings: Symptoms: Oil seepage between valve sections and end caps. Cause: Loose bolts, aged O-rings; air ingress causes cavitation.
  • Clogged LS Shuttle Valve and Orifice: Symptoms: Abnormal LS pressure, poor pump-valve matching, high fuel consumption & overheating. Cause: Fine contaminants block load-sensing signal passages.
  • Check / Holding Valve Seal Failure: Symptoms: Slow boom sinking and bucket tilting, worse under heavy load. Cause: Worn cone surface or dirt on sealing face.
  • Valve Block Cracking: Symptoms: Sudden heavy oil leak, cannot build pressure. Cause: Repeated pressure shock, uneven bolt torque, casting defect.
Procurement & Installation Guidelines
  • Check OEM part number; confirm complete LS load-sensing valve with boom & bucket spools.
  • New/remanufactured valves require hydraulic bench test with report (pressure, flow, internal leakage, LS response).
  • For remanufactured valves: new/repaired spools, honed bores; replace all O-rings, check valves, relief valves and LS shuttle valves.
  • Inspect valve block for cracks; protect ports from dust and contaminants during transport.
  • Clean tank & pipelines, replace all filters and bleed air before installation.
  • Test boom/bucket drift, combined action and maximum relief pressure after installation.
